I have always been interested in blogging. To be a blogger takes time, commitment, and a love for writing.

When Dr. Elizabeth Koshy, Professor and Head, Department of English, Dr. Arvind B. Telang Senior College, Nigdi, Pune, invited me over to address her students, I was delighted. Dr. Elizabeth and myself were in the Department of English when I was doing my MPhil. at Poona University. This was a way of meeting up again and also contributing to demystifying blogging for students.

It was the first academic activity of the new year. The students were curious about blogging. I asked them to make their own free blog at www.blogger.com.

What changed the game was a huge smart board for me to take them through my blog at www.lastbustovasco.blogspot.com.

I took them through the landing page of my blog dwelling on the significance of the title; profile page; archived posts; blog layout; and search function.

In terms of content I shared various blog posts with the students. Sometimes I upload just a few photos as in 'Christmas at Malwani Days' I was overwhelmed by the Christmas decorations in the restaurant Malwani Days in Kharghar. It spoke of the syncreticism of India.

A blogger must write to expose injustice, and react to crime. In this context I referred to my blogpost 'Khushmijaaz' - the name by which a person was called fondly until he lost his life over a petty argument in Nizamuddin, Delhi.

I also referred to my blogpost on Gauri Lankesh who was murdered for being a fearless journalist in Kannada.

To illustrate the difference between print and digital media I discussed my blog titled, 'Sikkim: Roof of the World'. I showed them to spot the hyperlinks and their use to layer the blogpost.

In the latter part of the session I opened my blog and explained the editing features available on the composing template.

The captivating session ended with the audience requesting to hear a video of me playing the guitar accompanying the choir for a night of carols. I obliged by opening my blogpost titled 'Emmanuel'.

Joining the Principal later with Dr. Elizabeth and staff, I was impressed by his dynamism - and his impeccable dress sense.
