Context
Henry Purcell (1659-1695) was an English composer. He lived in London. He died young at the age of 36. He was influenced by the Italian composers but gave his music an English idiom. He composed several works on English themes like King Arthur and the glory of England. He was versatile. He composed music for the church, the stage, the court and private entertainment. He is buried in Westminister Abbey, not far from the organ.
