Context
Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713)was an Italian composer, violinist and teacher. He lived and worked in Rome. His contemporaries were Tomaso Albinoni and Antonio Vivaldi. He was prolific in his compositions for violin. On account of this he was much respected in his time by the echelons of society.
