Once there was a big horse
Who did not like the sea . . .
The red flags are up
riptide over the sea.
The frothing waves
Show their teeth
The monsoon rides home.
Afternoon by the beach
The deck fills up.
A woman in a sarong
poses for her man.
A chapel at Saligao
the feast of St. Anne
White sand
batter-fried squids
Sinquerim's fort walls
squint in the distance.
But the other one's arm
dragged me along
like the pull of the sea . . .
