Dwayne and Maegan were keen to go go-karting. Looking up places they settled on one at Hiranandani Fortune City complex, Panvel. They had the time of their lives. By the time they were done it was touching 10 p.m.
Across the go-karting track was a Bistro with warm colours and soft lighting. It seemed inviting. The name 979 was intriguing. The eclectic menu ranged from burgers to soups, to pastas, to grills, and starters.
We were immediately made comfortable by Shradha who came across carrying 1-year old Dhimahi. This young couple are so into food and flavours that they decided to set up 979. They were friendly and spoke about their venture.
After a discussion on what a Bistro was, we saw how it widened the food palette. The mushroom toasties (₹299) were made with verve. In the mains the grilled chicken (₹549) was light and well-done.
With the house music playing Gen Z music of Justin Beiber, Alan Walker, Sam Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, and Carpenter we lingered savouring the food. It was midnight when we found it difficult to get a ride back home. Aditya gallantly stepped in and sourced a car for us so we could be on our way.
