Nothing like spending Sunday with your car. This Sunday I decided to clean the engine of our car.
My search for a garage or workshop led me to Vicky's Service Centre, Colvale. There was something about the name that sounded welcoming.
Sure enough Biren, a young lad bounded up to me and asked me what I needed. When I told him he asked me to wait a bit.
Soon he asked me to reverse and park at an incline. He began spraying the engine with a jet of liquid. After that he allowed it to dry in the sun with the liquid seeping from below.
Next he took another nozzle and vacuum cleaned the engine. The engine was stripped now of its dirt and dust. The parts were gleaming.
We waited a bit more and then it was time to pay. The service cost me ₹100.
I carefully started the ignition and was delighted to hear the purr of the engine. I reversed from the incline and brought the car to an even surface. Thanking Biren, I gave him a tip and drove away. But not before telling him that his name sounded like mine!
As I headed back to Porvorim I kept under the shadow of the flyover of NH 66 and made a U turn at the next underpass. In front of me loomed Colvale Central Jail. But that's another story.
