Song of Siolim

At Joe and Charmaine's place in Siolim.

- Brian Mendonca

Taurus the bull
towers over 'Francisco Villa'
Joe and Charmaine
host us; from Bahrain.

Urak with limca
past the midnight hour

'Perfect weekend stay'
A car, minus the handbrake
Crashes into Joe's gate.

Sorpatel from 'Porra'
Sannas e pao
Serradura for dessert
the earth swims to meet you.

Joe Monti and Davis
Savouring the 60's
Agastya at Ernakulam
'I've never taken everything off!'

'We are the locals.'
Mae zaoniam.
On the Camurlim road
You turn left towards Marna.

------------------------------------
As the night gathered pace we nosed our way through Siolim's dark streets. Waiting for us were school mates in Don Bosco, Matunga.

We parked outside the massive El Tesoro property opposite Joe's place. Joe had procured bottles of urak which us boys sipped getting high on the breeze.

We had taken our Laney amp for the guitar. My son Dwayne (14) helped me set up. When the 3rd string snapped he played the guitar much to the amazement of the boys (and me).

We swapped incidents from school life and laughed the night away.

Time didn't matter. We came back as the night creeped to the next day. We are still recovering today!
