At the Farmagudi circle
there is another circle
for people to sit.

some hurrying to be at the spot
before their bus arrives.
The huge tree nearby
offers shade for scooters
The Nagueshi temple
rises a distance away -

with sword unsheathed
a scourge to the Portuguese
ensconced in Old Goa.

Note
Nagueshi temple: Dedicated to Lord Ganesh. Plaque near temple dates back to 1413 in the reign of Veer Pratap Devraya of the Vijayanagar kingdom. The recent construction dates back to 1880. The temple has an ancient reservoir surrounded by palm trees. It was unscathed during the Portuguese time (1510-1961) of the 16th century as Ponda was not under its ambit.
Shivaji: fort of Shivaji nearby built in 1546. Shivaji (1630-1680) captured this fort in 1675, which was part of the Bijapur kingdom.
