to the black waters,
temporarily upstaged
by a one-man band.
Sultan from Bihar serves dal tadka
Chicken, pork and prawns
stare at us from the menu.
Mahesh from Satna
leads me to the kachcha road
A back entry to a Gothic facade
as we talk about the Narmada.
Kamlesh, in his flowery shirt
hails from Socorro
He manages the reception
and sits deep into the wall.
Four tables with roses
Two occupied by stags
First place at a school competition
Kabhi alvida na kehena . . .
