bedecked with flowers
Lying in a grave
near the palm tree?
-patches of waning light
enfolding you
in their embrace.
The mourners
-some clad in jeans-
move away, make small talk
and head for the sandwiches.
'Paradise' they call it.
The cemetery minces no words.
The vaults behind you
wait to receive your remains.
Must the flowers wilt so soon?
Rise, and make us masala chai
before this day is done.
Sahar or Kharghar
the earth is one.
The spirit remains
the soul abounds.
Rest in peace Marol nana.
Thank you for all you did for us.
