After
feasting on film over the weekend here we are back again to take you through
the fare for tomorrow – the second last day of iffi54.
We
have three Konkani films tomorrow. Witness is about a secret; Maarwat is on the caste system in Goa,
and Crazy Mogi is about how two friends help each other out.
There
are two Gala Premieres scheduled, the Kannada film Grey Games about
online gaming; and the Hindi one Dil Hai Gray about a police inspector
caught in a web of deceit.
In
the International competition section is the Bulgarian film Blaga’s Lessons about
a phone scam. From Bosnia and Herzegovina comes Die Before Death about a
gynaecologist who performs abortions without remorse. Woman of [sic] is a Polish film about a trans woman.
In
the Indian Panorama, feature section watch Rabindra Kabya Rahasya about
a poet who exacts retribution. Iratta is a Malayalam film about the murder
of a police officer. Five years after their divorce Swarnava and Milli review
their choices in the Bengali film Deep Fridge. Kerala Story in Hindi is
about the happenings in a campus in Kasargod. Also in Hindi is The Vaccine
War.
In
the non-feature section is the Marathi movie Utsavmurti about a boy who
wants to emulate Lord Ganesha.
The
spotlight is on women with a discussion on ‘Women Power in Cinema’ featuring Ashwini
Tiwari, filmmaker and Shweta Mathew, film editor. We also have Vidya Balan, in
conversation, as an actress who shattered the glass ceiling. In the Lata
Mangueshkar memorial talk, Sudhir Mishra will hold forth on human creativity vs
AI.
In
Cinema of the World, Suellen steals to send her son to a gay conversion
workshop in the Brazilian film Toll. Two women explore their love in the
Canadian film This Place. From
out of the vast sands of Turkmenistan comes the film Lonely Yurt. The
countries of Peru and Chile are united by the love of Margarita and Lautaro in
the Peruvian film Once Upon a Time in the Andes. After swimming from the
Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico, a castaway begins to examine his motives in Insular.
People start dying in Itapora in the Paraguayan film Lucette.
What
would Hindi film be without villains? Listen to villains in conversation
featuring Ranjeet, Gulshan Grover, Raza Murad, and Kiran Kumar.
Will
Fouad find love with Daniela? Find out in Casablanca in the Docu-montage
