Just a few days more for the curtains to come down on the 54th iffi here in Goa. To help make your Sunday count here’s a teaser of what’s coming your way tomorrow.

In the International competition section is Iranian filmmaker Abbas Amini’s film about the Taliban called Endless Borders. Party of Fools is about a ball held in a mental asylum.

Exciting fare in the Indian Panorama, feature section tomorrow.  Watch Neela Nira Sooriyan about Aravind from Pollachi, who is transitioning to be a female. The film is directed by Samyukta Vijayan, a transgender woman. Aaraariraaro is a Kannada movie which explores the nuances between a thief and an old lady who is dumb.  Trapped in an abusive marriage, Harshita finds solace in writing letters in the Hindi film Dhai Aakhar. Aptly titled 2018: Everyone is a Hero, this Malayalam film is about the Kerala floods in 2018.

In the non-feature section is the Assamese movie Kathabor. Also look out for Back to the Future, an NFDC film on the journey of cinema from analogue to digital.

In the Cinema of the World section, Palimpsest from Finland makes two elderly roommates young again. The Russian film Tzadik catalogues the trek of Jewish women to freedom from Nazi-occupied Belarus. Rain Town from Malaysia is about how a parent denies his children their dreams. Brand Bollywood Downunder is about the globalization of popular Hindi cinema in Australia and the world.

The Mexican-US border is the scene of action in the festival kaleidoscope pick Upon Open Sky. From South Korea comes Concrete Utopia where Seoul is flattened by an earthquake. Join the odyssey of Seydou and Moussa as they make their way from Dakar to Europe in Io Capitano [Me Captain]

The inspiring story of one lawyer’s fight is presented in the Hindi film Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai in the Accessible India section with audio description.

Singaporean filmmaker Anthony Chen directs Drift - about two rootless people who find each other - for the ICFT-UNESCO prize.

Animation films tomorrow include Four Souls of Coyote about an oil pipeline on native American land, and Prabho Shivaji Raja on the life of the Maratha king.

In the best debut feature film of a director, IFFI showcases Turkish director Umut Subasi’s take on the new generation with Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster. There is also Sleep by South Korean director Jason Yu.

In the restored classics section you can watch the Telugu film Pathala Bhairavi about the love between a princess and a gardener. Don’t miss Twilight by Hungarian film director Gyorgy Feher about the assault and murder of a young girl.

Finally, Lumberjack the Monster by Japanese director Takashi Miike is included in the section ‘Macabre Dreams.’
