Fish thali at Mapuche, Mapusa |
-Brian Mendonca
Away from the hurly burly of Mapusa we found ourselves looking for lunch at 3 in the afternoon. Rather than step in to one of the joints in the city we headed out into the open road to Parra hoping to find something. Parra is from where dad is from. You can be sure we did.
On our right was the board which said Mapuche. The quaint name really had us. We walked up to the floor on which it was - the lift was not working - and entered a plush dining space with a grand interior. The place overlooks the Bogdeshwar temple which comes across as a serene space surrounded by greenery, specially after the rains.
The Big Boss feni had a heady twang and the masala peanuts made you wind down. But we soon ditched the peanuts for the thali which nourished us.
The best part of it is that they have all day dining. So you can always come in for a late lunch, like we did.
