Kurr-ac

Urrak and its accompaniments
-Brian Mendonca

The best part about Kismoor is that it is a place which affords 'All day dining'. Now if you are on a roll on a Sunday that is just the page you want to be on.

Urrak with Kokum
You know that a steaming plate of fish curry rice and fried fish will always be waiting for you - no matter what.

Living virtually in the backyard of Kismoor makes is easy to take the place for granted. The easy ambience, the live music, the wooden furniture and the laid back charm all add to its appeal.

And then there is urrak or Kurr-ac. A glass bottle is placed enticingly at the entrance. The traditional accompaniments (or assortments) are all arrayed on a wooden slab next to it.  They comprise rock salt, lime, green chilly and even a tiny glass to taste the produce. (I usually add mint as well.)

It is amazing how each restaurant or food space tries to outdo the competition to package Goa's own local brew in a variety of avatars, at this time of the year. Since we landed up at 4 p.m. I felt I should order 'Afternoon Siesta' from the specially curated Kurr-ac menu.  Afternoon dissolved into a leafy evening as I nursed my urrak laced with kokum, lime, mint and home-grown masala. Queenie settled for the Sangria with white wine fresh fruits and fizz. All in all it made for a great afternoon - or evening. We wrapped up lunch at 5.
