Mural depicting the legacy of King David. |

People seldom speak of the time when David dies in the Bible. But die he does. The words in the bible from the book of Kings are very poignant. It is an end-of-life situation and David knows it.
He accepts death with equanimity consoling himself that he is going back to the earth. He is ready for a return to his fathers.
Just before his death he has saw the dead body of his son Absolam who was speared when he was caught among the branches.
David rose to prominence for killing Goliath.
David is also known for coveting Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite. To get him out of the way, David instructs that Uriah be placed in the frontline of the army so he may be killed. For this David is cursed by the prophet Nathan.
David is believed to have written the book of Psalms. The Psalms are the most poetic books of the Bible and testify to David's pleading for deliverance from enemies and mercy from the Lord.
The reading teaches us that even great men have to die. From a child to a man to an elder David saw all the stages of life. He made an imprint on them in his own unique way.

Also, the book of psalms is also written by Korah and his sons and even by Moses too.. not just David. The book is a compilation of the poetry written by them all and any others
