George Friedrich Handel (1685-1759) was a German composer. He travelled to Italy and lived the latter part of his life in England.
The organ concerto in B flat is from a set of 6 concertos composed by Handel between 1740-51. They were published after Handel’s passing. Written in baroque style they draw inspiration from Handel’s harpsichord suites and the compositions of Telemann.
They were among the final compositions of Handel when he was at the height of his powers. His greatest oratorio Messiah (1741) was composed a year later.
