Jarzebski

Corona Aurea – Concerto a 2 for cornett and violin

Composed: 1627?

Duration: 6 mins. (approx.)

Adam Jarzebski (1590-1649) was a Polish composer, violinist, poet and writer. His works were discovered only in 1989. His compositions are vital to the understanding of early central European baroque chamber music.  He left Berlin where he made his debut in 1612 for Italy but returned to his native Warsaw where he worked till the end.

Corona Aurea [Crown of Gold] is part of his collection titled ‘Canzoni e Concerti’ [Songs and Concertos] from 1627. The collection has 28 compositions and is one of his few surviving works. It suggests the gentle rays of the rising sun.
