Context
Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) was a Austro-Bohemian composer. He wrote nine symphonies. Symphony Number 10 is unfinished. The first movement - the Adagio - was the last work he composed, knowing that he had little time left. The movement is marked by dissonance and pain. The symphony was conceptualized with a five movement structure. Mahler asked his wife to burn the score, since it was incomplete.
