They go to work
Bombay or Goa
They go to work.
A step in their stride
All muffled and tyed
The armies head on
to their place of work.
It's just turned June
and I am on vacation
Kharghar or Porvorim
It's a staycation.
In Kharghar at 9
I step out for supplies
Returning with idli, dosa
or Bikaneri samosa.
The day's newspapers
brun bread and eggs,
It's breakfast at home
The washing machine singing.
In Porvorim,
at Saishan's
It's bhajis three
vatana, cashew and muli
Chapati and pao
Poha and upma
Tea as well,
With a surfeit of sugar.
It's strange
when you arrive at your destination
you imagine doing the same things
you did in the place you just left.
